NVIDIA did not present new video cards at Computex 2024, but showed a lot of technologies which can help gamers. The company unveiled a new standard for compact PCs that manufacturers support, created an artificial intelligence assistant for complex games, created the ability to automatically overclock a video card in its program, and allowed the use of the AV1 codec for game recording at 120 frames per second in SDR and HDR formats.
SFF-Ready Enthusiast Compact PC Standard – Video Cards and Cases
NVIDIA launches SFF-Ready Enthusiast GeForce Card program. These are instructions and recommendations for building compact PCs with RTX 40 graphics cards for gamers and enthusiasts, supported by major hardware manufacturers. This program involves a variety of companies, including NVIDIA board partners, case manufacturers, power supply suppliers, and other component developers, who collaborate to meet specific standards.
NVIDIA offers a list of compatible cases along with compatible GeForce cards for “enthusiasts”. According to the instructions, the minimum GPU that meets the specifications is the RTX 4070. The requirements indicate a maximum graphics card thickness of 2.5 slots (50mm), with dimensions of 304mm in length and 151mm in width.
As mentioned, all of the listed and packaged cards are similar in size, making them relatively easy to integrate with other recommended system components. The list also includes some spoilers such as Palit Infinity 3 graphics cards that have not yet been released. There is not a single RTX 4060 model on the list – NVIDIA considers these cards to be basic and not powerful enough for enthusiasts.
SFF's recommendations do not focus on the Mini-ITX form factor. Graphics card manufacturers' pages will soon be updated with “SFF-Ready Enthusiast GeForce Cards” and cases will be labeled “Compatible with SFF-Ready Enthusiast GeForce Cards”.

Project G-Assist – artificial intelligence will help in the game with complex mechanics
At Computex 2024, NVIDIA introduced a new type of AI assistant that will help gamers have a better experience. Project G-Assist offers players assistance with strategies and processes in complex games.
With Project G-Assist and a compatible GPU, gamers can access a rich language model (LLM) linked to the game database directly from within a supported game. Using voice prompts or test requests, players can request help from an assistant. While Project G-Assist can't play for the gamer, as demonstrated in NVIDIA's 2017 April Fool's video, it does offer a wealth of information.
NVIDIA notes that games have become so complex that many players face significant difficulties, which even leads to reluctance to buy the game. Even though they were interested in the game, the time and training required make the game not worth playing.
To demonstrate the technology, NVIDIA used the game Ark: Survival Ascended. G-Assist has shown itself to be able to answer questions about creatures, item crafting, history, difficult bosses, and the like. In one example, a player asked which early weapon was the best in the game. The AI assistant recommended a spear and explained how to craft the weapon, how it deals damage, and the spear's weaknesses.

Recording video games in AV1 120 FPS and auto-adjusting video card parameters
Now users of NVIDIA graphics cards will be able to record gameplay at 120 fps in SDR and HDR formats. The AV1 codec, now supported by many software platforms, requires powerful GPUs to record and encode video at high quality and frame rates. For gamers, this means lower memory requirements and higher quality streaming. This feature will be available for RTX 40 series.
NVIDIA demonstrated the feature in Horizon Forbidden West. The use of the codec resulted in fewer artifacts in the frame. According to the company, AV1 encoding reduces color banding and preserves more detail.
An interesting new feature from NVIDIA is automatic performance tuning. NVIDIA software automatically scans your system and selects the best settings for both desktop and mobile graphics cards. These settings will be applied automatically, although advanced users can manually control voltage, power, temperature or fan speed.
NVIDIA says that once enabled, the auto-tuning feature will perform regular scans to ensure optimal GPU performance. Full tests can last from 10 to 20 minutes, depending on settings. NVIDIA recommends leaving the system uninterrupted for best results. The good news is that this type of overclocking will not void your warranty. NVIDIA assures that using this feature will not damage any graphics card.
