China Central Television reported that orders for the Chinese passenger airliner COMAC C919 exceeded 1200. The creation of this one aircraft gave impetus to the rapid development of the Chinese civil aviation industry: in connection with the creation of COMAC C919, 20 new specialties and more than 6,000 new technologies appeared in the country.
At the moment, the largest customer of COMAC C919 aircraft is China Eastern Airlines: on September 28, 2023, a contract was signed for the supply of 100 C919 until 2031. The carrier already has four COMAC C919s, all of which are already on routes.
The price value of 100 COMAC C919s was $9.9 billion, that is, the price of one aircraft – $99 million. However, for such a large volume, China Eastern Airlines received a «significant discount», so in reality one C919 costs the air carrier much less.
COMAC C919 is a narrow-body, medium-haul airliner – an analogue of the foreign Airbus A320 and Boeing 737, as well as the Russian MC-21.
