Nokia announced a landmark agreement on 5G networks with the Perfectum operator in Uzbekistan. As the press service noted, this new deal marks a significant step towards the deployment of advanced 5G technologies in the country.
As the sole supplier, Nokia will provide Perfectum with a complete end-to-end standalone 5G solution. The core network and applications are deployed on Red Hat OpenShift, integrated into the Nokia cloud platform.
The commercial launch of the 5G network is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2024 in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. This will be followed by a phased expansion to all regions of Uzbekistan — in the next two years.
Dmitry Shukov, CEO of Perfectum, said:
Nokia's experience and global reputation make it a reliable partner in solving an important task — start the 5G era in Uzbekistan, ensure successful deployment and long-term support of the network. This deployment is an important step to keep pace with the rapidly evolving digital landscape in the region and harness the transformative potential of 5G technology for our society and economy as a whole.
