Despite the departure of Henry Cavill and the unsatisfactory results of the third season, the corporation does not abandon its plans.
The portal Redanianintelligence confirmed that despite unfavorable reviews of the latest series, Netflix has not changed its plans and “active pre-production stage” will begin in the first months of 2024.
Work on the set was supposed to begin this year, but Netflix could not continue the project due to the actors' strike.
The final stage of pre-production usually takes 8-10 weeks, so work on the set of Season 4 of The Witcher will start on March 31 or early April. The actors will work on set until the end of the year, then post-production will begin, and the premiere of new episodes of The Witcher will probably take place no earlier than the summer of 2025.
Redanianintelligence also highlights an important detail – Netflix wants to work on two stories in the Witcher universe almost simultaneously. The cast is expected to record all episodes of the fourth season, take a short break and quickly return to the next ones.
