General Director of the State Scientific Center of the Russian Federation Federal State Unitary Enterprise «NAMI» Fedor Nazarov gave an interview to the publication «Federal Business Magazine», in which he spoke about the promising developments of the enterprise.

It turns out that NAMI is working on a gas turbine engine for Russian cars. «Gas turbine engines, which NAMI engineers are currently working on, are an illustrative example of creating products that are strategically important for several industries at once: the automotive industry, the oil and gas sector. Also, with their help, it is possible to implement the tasks of energy supply in remote areas of our large country», — said the head of NAMI.

Fedor Nazarov also spoke about the work to create a scalable automotive platform on which it will be possible to produce cars of different classes.

«The development of a platform for classes C/D/E will allow us to fulfill the strategic objectives of unifying the component base, which will allow us to combine the efforts of both automakers and auto component manufacturers. This is precisely where we see the strategic role of NAMI as the «headquarters» industry, which analyzes the necessary vector of development of the automotive industry and has the necessary competencies», — he said.

«NAMI is developing as a high-tech engineering center of international level, which is capable of not only leading a large-scale project to create a new automobile platform and a family of cars based on it, but also ensuring import substitution engineering services in the interests of Russian automakers», — added Fedor Nazarov.

No technical details about the power plant or platform. One might think that when creating the latter, they will rely on the experience of developing the Aurus luxury car platform. True, the platform will be greatly simplified, since Aurus – This is the F segment, and its platform, at least in terms of dimensions, is redundant for cars of classes C, D and E.
