Mark Zuckerberg — head of Meta* and one of the richest people on the planet — is building a secret facility with a bunker in Hawaii worth about $270 million.
More precisely, the cost of construction of the complex is estimated at about 100 million, and Zuckerbeng paid a total of about 170 million for the land. Besides, these are probably all underestimates.
The facility is being built on the northeastern side of the Hawaiian island of Kauai. According to Wired journalists, who conducted the investigation, the construction site is surrounded by a high fence and guarded by a large number of people. All workers on site are bound by a strict non-disclosure agreement.
Journalists analyzed a lot of data and came to the conclusion that the area of land on which the work is being carried out is about 5.7 sq. km, and that same underground shelter will have a total area of almost 470 sq. m. & ;nbsp;
Despite the fact that the bunker is of the greatest interest, it cannot be said that the object as a whole is dedicated to it. The surface will house two mansions with offices, conference rooms and kitchens, so this is clearly not a place where Zuckerberg plans to arrive only in the event of a planetary catastrophe. In addition, a network of 11 disc-shaped treehouses will be built in a nearby forested area, which will be connected by rope bridges, allowing visitors to move from one building to another while remaining among the treetops.
The property will also feature a full-size gym, swimming pools, sauna, hot tub, plunge pool and tennis court.
By the way, those same 270 million dollars — That's a huge sum for private construction, so Zuckerberg's facility will be one of the most expensive privately built in the world. It is also worth noting that construction has been going on since at least 2016, but there is no exact data.
