The VTB Bank team warned users. On the eve of the tourist season, scammers have become more active, using earnings from evaluating the work of travel agencies or hotels for bait. In addition, they began to offer «vacancies» mystery shopper.
Fraudsters began to more often contact clients through instant messengers, posing as employees of popular travel companies, services for searching and purchasing airline tickets and hotel bookings. They offer to make money by leaving reviews of the quality of hotels, supposedly to attract new customers.
During telephone calls, the interlocutor is asked to join an online meeting, such as an interview, and enable smartphone screen sharing. This is how attackers see what applications a person has installed and try to gain access to them. For example, they ask you to issue a card in a banking application to make purchases under the guise of a “mystery shopper.” At the same time, they can see all incoming SMS codes for accessing their personal online banking account or withdrawing funds. Therefore, as soon as the victim pays for the purchases, communication stops, and it is no longer possible to return the money.
