A localization schedule will already be created for all companies organizing production in Russia

Russia plans to create a localization schedule for Chinese automobile brands that want to organize the production of their products in the country. The decision on this was made during a meeting on the prospects for localizing Chinese auto brands in terms of auto electronics. The meeting took place on January 16 on the territory of the AvtoVAZ plant in Togliatti, it was chaired by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Vasily Shpak.

According to him, over the past two years the share of cars on Chinese platforms in Russia has increased significantly, but the localization of these cars in terms of auto electronics is usually limited to the installation of the ERA-GLONASS system. Vasily Shpak noted that car electronics today provide a significant part of a car’s capabilities and take up up to 40% of its cost. It is very important for Russia to ensure the widespread use of its own products and technologies in all cars that are in demand in the domestic market.
