The large Kia EV9 SUV will have a GT version with acceleration to 100 km/h in 4 seconds
At «Investor Day 2024» Kia presented a strategy for introducing new models to the market. And the company will not be short of new products: within three years, 15 new car models will appear, most of which will be equipped with electric power plants.
Upcoming new electric vehicles from Kia — These are models EV2, EV4 and EV5 (the latter is already available in China, and will soon go on sale in Thailand and Australia). The company is also preparing electric commercial vehicles, as well as the EV3, which should debut in the summer. Such a variety of «electric trains» It’s no coincidence: by 2030, the company expects to sell 1.6 million electric vehicles annually.
This year, Kia will update the EV6 model — immediately after his «brother» is updated represented by the Hyundai Ioniq 5. The premiere of the updated EV6 is expected by the end of the year.
The company is looking to add more powerful GT models to the lineup. Thus, in January 2025, the premiere of the flagship electric SUV EV9 GT is expected, which will accelerate to 100 km/h in 4 seconds. A «charged» version also for Kia EV5.
The company does not forget about hybrids: the company expects that in North America and in the home market in South Korea, hybrids will account for 35% and 43% of sales of all cars. It is interesting that the company is not going to introduce hybrids to the Chinese market: there the line will be distributed strictly between electric vehicles and conventional cars with internal combustion engines. The company plans to expand the line of hybrids from six models this year to nine models by 2028.
As for ordinary cars, this year Kia will update the Sportage crossover and introduce the updated Kia K8 business sedan.
