Sales growth for all Geely Holding brands, but Volvo sales grew moderately
Geely Holding Group has published car sales statistics for January of this year. Over the past month, 290 600 cars were sold – 69% more than in January 2023. Sales of electric vehicles soared 2.5 times – up to 95 300 units. Thus, the car «on new energy» already account for 33% of Geely’s sales structure.
If we talk about brands, then within the parent brand they sold 172 774 cars – almost twice as much as in January 2023. Sales Lynk & Co increased by 2.5 times – to 28 176 units, and Zeekr sales grew the most – 4 times (up to 12 537 units).
Against this background, Volvo's sales growth by 10% (to 53 402 units) is not particularly impressive. About the same amount – by 10.3% – Sales of Proton Motors increased (up to 12 882 units), but for the Malaysian company this is the best monthly sales result since 2013. Proton Motors simultaneously announced that it has begun supplying customers with the Proton S70 sedan, known in Russia as the Geely Emgrand. Proton has a license to produce this car, and exactly the same license to produce Emgrand this year will be received by the Belarusian enterprise BelGee, which will make it possible to localize Emgrand in Belarus.
