Huawei may finally switch to inch image sensors.
Digital Chat Station insider says that Huawei is now testing the Sony IMX989 inch sensor. There were previously rumors that the top model Huawei P70 Pro Art might get an inch sensor, but the regular P70 Pro might also get just such a camera.
Considering that Huawei smartphones without inch sensors have consistently been one of the best camera phones in recent years, and in the DxOMark rating the Mate 60 Pro+ and P60 Pro with much smaller sensors, the company’s new product with inch sensor may well become a truly absolute leader.
Huawei is also reported to be testing the OmniVision OV50H sensor in 1/1.3-inch optical format, which is comparable to the sensor at the heart of the Mate 60 Pro.
