Hyundai is recalling 795 pickup trucks and crossovers due to a possible steering problem. The recall affects the 2024 Tucson and 2024 Santa Cruz.

The safety report states that both models may have been equipped with a power steering system whose circuit board was assembled using contaminated flux. This increases the likelihood of a short circuit, which may cause the power steering system to malfunction.

In this case, the power steering may simply turn off. This poses a safety risk, as the government notes that «sudden, unexpected loss of power steering while the vehicle is in use may increase the risk of a crash».

Hyundai has already identified the defect in several vehicles, but the automaker is not aware of any injuries or accidents related to the recall.
