Pixel 8 Pro will receive
Pixel 8 and 8 Pro smartphones are based on the same Tensor G3 SoC. Despite this, in the current generation Google decided to somewhat limit the younger model compared to the older one. For example, Pixel 8 will not receive a mobile version of the Gemini Nano chatbot.
Google claims that this is due to some hardware limitations, but it is unclear what they are, since the platform is the same. True, the Pixel 8 Pro has more RAM (12 GB versus 8 GB), and as we know, this is quite important for AI. However, it’s not a fact that the problem is specifically in RAM, and not marketing.
At the same time, Google says that Gemini Nano will appear on other “high-end devices in the near future,” but it is not yet known whether this applies to older Pixel smartphones.
