The basic version is priced at only 26 thousand dollars
The official premiere of the large Geely Galaxy E8 sedan took place in China, and it turned out to be simply super cheap for a modern 5-meter electric sedan. The cost of the basic version — only 26 thousand dollars!
It's not just cheap, it's very cheap even for the highly competitive Chinese market. For comparison, the cost of the hit BYD Han EV — from 29 thousand dollars, Avatr 12 costs from 42 thousand dollars. At the same time, the Geely Galaxy E8 has already surpassed only the planned cheap Tesla and Volkswagen at a price of 25 thousand dollars or euros: according to data available on the Internet, there will be mid-size hatchbacks and crossovers that will be inferior to the Galaxy E8 both in size and equipment.
«Chip» Geely Galaxy E8 — a huge 45-inch 8K screen on the front. And this is not a system of three separate screens, like the Geely Monjaro or top Mercedes-Benz: the Galaxy E8 actually installed a single large screen that can be divided into zones. For example, in game mode it is divided in half: connect joysticks and play with a partner. But will the basic version have the steering wheel shown in the pictures – unclear.
The dimensions of the Geely Galaxy E8 are 5010 x 1920 x 1465 mm with a wheelbase length of 2925 mm. It is built on the SEA platform, which is used, for example, in the very popular Zeekr 001 in Russia. But you can’t count on the Zeekr’s super-power and fairly high autonomy; after all, in the Geely hierarchy, the Galaxy E8 is a step and a half lower. Therefore, in the basic version — rear-wheel drive with an electric motor producing 272 hp. and a traction battery with a capacity of 62 kW·h, providing a range of up to 550 km. In the top version — 422 hp, all-wheel drive and traction battery with a capacity of 76 kW·h with a range of up to 665 km.
The entire price list and all configurations will be revealed in January 2024, but it is already known that the infotainment system will include SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295, there will be an autopilot, a large panoramic roof, etc.
