Embracer has laid off 1,400 employees and plans to cut even more

The company says everything is going according to its restructuring and cost-cutting plan launched last year.

Embracer Group has confirmed that its restructuring plan has resulted in nearly 1,400 (8% of total workforce) workers across its various divisions and studios being forced to seek new employment.

As part of the strategy to restructure the holding, Volition, which released the failed reboot of Saints Row last year, was closed, as well as the Free Radical Design studio, which was responsible for TimeSplitters. In addition, according to some sources, the holding has put Gearbox up for sale.

The same strategy led to a wave of layoffs across Gearbox Publishing, Crystal Dynamics, Zen Studios and Eidos Montreal.
