American Truck Simulator has been in development for many years. Sometimes developers prepare not only new content, but also refresh the appearance of the game
An experimental update 1.50 was presented for American Truck Simulator (beta testing is underway, you can access it through the game properties on Steam, no password is needed).
The developers offer a fresh look at the interface, as well as improved graphics. There are other nice little things, like squeaking brakes (sound)
Getting to know the interface. The developers decided to rework it: they chose a minimalist design with tooltips and multi-level navigation, which should provide easier accessibility. They also noted that working with it on a gamepad and steering wheel will become more convenient. When playing in 2K and 4K resolution, the game should look sharper.
Also made changes to the render of American Truck Simulator (still based on the DirectX 11 API):
- A new TAA (Temporal Anti-Aliasing) feature has been added.
- Shadow Cascading: Smooth transition when blending between cascades, smoother and more stabilized shadow edges.
- Soft particles : Particles and highlights fade out smoothly near geometry, eliminating harsh intersections for a smoother visual experience.
- Lit/Shaded Smoke: Smoke particles with enhanced volume perception and sunlight shadowing , providing a more realistic and immersive atmosphere.
- Far shadows: Constantly present shadows from distant large objects such as factory floors, skyscrapers and road overpasses (can be disabled in the settings) .
- Optimized lighting calculation: Dynamic lighting is estimated in a single pass, called clustered lighting, improving performance in night scenes.
