Elon Musk didn't lie about the bulletproofness of the Cybertruck? JerryRigEverything shot the Cybertruck with an automatic weapon and a sniper rifle

Bulletproofness of the Cybertruck is a relative concept, it greatly depends on the caliber of the bullet

During the official announcement of the Cybertruck pickup last year, the public was shown a video in which the car was shot with a Thompson submachine gun and an MP5-SD submachine gun: not a single 9 mm caliber bullet penetrated the body panel. Now the well-known specialist in the field of destruction of everything, Zach Nelson, known under the nickname JerryRigEverything, has taken on the task of testing the bulletproofness of the Cybertruck. This time the check was comprehensive, but we started with the same caliber 9 mm.

Bullets fired from a Glock 19 pistol at fairly close range did not penetrate the door of the Cybertruck. However, Zach noted that repeated shots in the same place can lead to cracking of the door panel. Zach then tried a 22 caliber (5.6 mm) bullet, and it didn’t «pierce» door. Moreover, visual damage from a bullet of this caliber is even less.

But the Cybertruck’s caliber could no longer withstand a further upgrade. A 17 HMR caliber bullet, leaving the barrel at a speed of 762 meters per second, pierced the door… but did not come out of the casing.

Zach then switched to an AR-15 automatic rifle with .223 Rem caliber bullets (5.56 mm, 975 m/s). And so she flashed the entire door, including the trim. At the end of the test, Zack used a powerful rifle (50 caliber, 883 m/s), and it, of course, broke through the door of the Cybertruck.

And the general conclusion from these tests is this: Musk wasn’t lying when he talked about the Cybertruck being bulletproof. He didn’t lie about the “caliber of stability” either: 9 mm (and even a little more) the Cybertruck can withstand. True, if you shoot at the body panel, and not, for example, at the glass.
