It should be launched by next fall
Elon Musk told investors that his artificial intelligence startup xAI plans to build a supercomputer to run the next version of its artificial intelligence chatbot Grok.
Musk said he wants to launch a supercomputer by fall 2025, adding that xAI could collaborate with Oracle. The companies did not respond to Reuters requests for comment.
As stated in The Information article, the new supercomputer based on flagship GPUs will be at least four times the size of the largest GPU clusters in existence today.
As a reminder, Nvidia's H100 family of powerful GPUs dominates the AI data center chip market, but they are difficult to acquire due to high demand.
Earlier this year, Musk said that training the Grok 2 model required approximately 20,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs, adding that Grok 3 and later would require 100,000 Nvidia H100 chips.< /p>
