Avowed is one of Microsoft's games for 2024. Some players compared the combat system of the Obsidian Entertainment project to Skyrim. Game director Carrie Patel commented on the players’ words.
“We showed a fragment in June 2023, showed a little more at Developer Direct a few weeks ago […]. We continue to share, but this is all happening while the game is still being developed.”
Her words refer to statements that some players have noted , that the combat component is too “wooden” and looks weak. The game director claims that some elements in Avowed will be more reminiscent of The Outer Worlds than Skyrim.
“One of the aspects that we are encouraged by is that fans are paying attention to some things that we are actively working on, such as the feeling of impact and impact when attacking enemies.”
The developers listen to player feedback, which is not at all obvious. We can only hope that this will not significantly affect the game's release date – Avowed is scheduled for release in the fall of 2024 on PC and Xbox Series X|S, as well as on Game Pass.
