Presentation expected this year
AvtoVAZ continues to test the Lada Iskra, as confirmed by the insider public Avtograd News on the social network «VKontakte».
Back in July, the first photos of the car that should eventually replace the Lada Granta appeared. Now the prototypes are left at the plant site, but for now they are covered with awnings. The presentation of the new product will take place this year, and the start of sales is scheduled for 2025.
AvtoVAZ previously confirmed that the Lada Iskra should be built on the localized French CMF-B LS platform from Renault-Nissan. It is expected that the cars will be produced in sedan, station wagon and cross-station wagon bodies, and will receive a Chinese CVT, like the Lada Vesta NG.
Lada Iskra buyers will be offered 90- and 106-horsepower 1.6-liter naturally-aspirated engines and a 122-horsepower 1.8-liter unit. The model will be launched next year and will eventually replace the Lada Granta on the market.
It is known that the Lada Iskra will retain elements of the X-style, developed by former AvtoVAZ chief designer Steve Mattin. Recently, high-quality images of the Lada Iskra interior appeared in high resolution, taken from patents issued by AvtoVAZ.
