Netflix and YouTube are not creating a special application for Apple virtual and augmented reality headsets Vision Pro. As YouTube spokeswoman Jessica Gibby told The Verge, “YouTube users will be able to experience YouTube through the Safari browser on Vision Pro.” Netflix spokeswoman Kumiko Hidaka transmitted a similar message: “Our users will be able to enjoy Netflix on the Vision Pro browser, just like on Mac computers.”
According to rumors, there are no plans to create a new application for Vision Pro and Spotify, but representatives of the service refused to comment on this. Of the 46 most popular apps in the App Store, none will have a native visionOS app at launch. This list is always subject to change, but the lack of dedicated apps in the weeks leading up to Vision Pro's launch doesn't give much hope.
Apple Vision Pro will be available with 3D movies from Disney Plus, as well as support for several other streaming services such as Amazon Prime Video, Max, Paramount Plus, Pluto TV, Peacock. While Spotify doesn't seem like a major omission for a mixed reality headset, the lack of dedicated Netflix and YouTube apps could certainly make the device less attractive to users hoping to use the headset as an immersive media player.
