New function is enabled in your personal account
The Yandex team announced the expansion of authorization capabilities «Yandex ID». Now you can log in to Yandex services and external sites using your fingerprint or face — no need to enter password or codes.
A new passwordless login method has become available thanks to the introduction of the WebAuthn web standard. As noted in the press service, it meets high security and confidentiality requirements and does not allow the key to be reproduced from a third-party device or forged. «Yandex ID» does not have access to information about the user's face and fingerprint — this data is stored on the device and is not transferred anywhere.
To enable the new function, you need to log into your personal account «Yandex ID» and create a key for the device in the «Login by face or fingerprint» section. One account can have up to ten keys for different devices — not only smartphones, but also, for example, smart watches or YubiKey USB keys for PCs.
In «Yandex ID» Other passwordless login methods are available — using a one-time code from the Yandex Key application, via QR and by selecting a picture.
