This time it will be 2 nm
Apple looks set to once again gain exclusive access to TSMC's next process technology. A «secret meeting» reportedly took place between Apple COO Jeff Williams and TSMC President Xi Wei. Presumably, at the meeting an agreement could have been reached that Apple would reserve all the capacity of the 2 nm process technology for some period, as happened with the 3 nm standards.
Samsung wants to get Nvidia contracts. The company has a whole strategy for this called Nemo.
Recall that it was Apple that received the first chips using the 3 nm process technology. Moreover, they appeared on the market more than six months ago, but so far no one else is offering 3-nanometer chips from TSMC, so the contract between the giants was clearly quite large.
However, when TSMC begins mass production of semiconductors at 2 nm standards, it will already have a competitor in Intel, which is preparing to start producing chips using the Intel 18A process next year. < /p>
