Production will begin in 2024
Engineers from the Moscow design bureau «Motochrome» have developed an electric motor called «Svirel», which can be used on aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which will increase their flight speed by up to 30%.
This motor is suitable for both light and heavy drones weighing more than 30kg. It is important to note that 90% of the components from which the engine is assembled are domestic, with the exception of bearings and magnets, which are imported.
The director and chief designer of the company, Alexey Mishukov, emphasized that the uniqueness of the motor lies in its coaxial design, which ensures paired rotation of the screws in counter directions with a small gap. This improves the drone's control stability and significantly increases its top speed. The motor power is 3 kW, and the shaft rotation speed can reach up to 12,000 rpm.
Tests of the first experimental sample are planned for April 2024. Some assembly units have already been produced. It is expected that at the pilot series stage the cost of each motor will be about 85 thousand rubles.
