This article contains a rating of 10 sports cars that will last for many years with timely maintenance.
HotCars looked at eligible sports cars built between 1994 and 2024 and selected the models that can run with the lowest annual maintenance costs, based on RepairPal data and 10-year maintenance costs from CarEdge.
To make the list, a sports car must also be reliable and have average or affordable running costs, according to owner ratings on Carsurvey. In the event that RepairPal and CarEdge sports car maintenance cost estimates were not available, reliability ratings and operating cost ratings were used to determine whether the vehicle qualified or not.
The first place in the list of the most reliable sports cars according to HotCars was taken by the 2000 Mazda MX-5 Miata, which has the best combination of price and quality. Introduced over twenty years ago, this small roadster is powered by a 1.8-liter engine that produces 140 horsepower. Owners of this model spend an average of about $429 annually on maintenance.
In second place is the 2005 Honda S200, famous for its participation in the Fast and the Furious film series. Under the hood of this Japanese car is a 2.2-liter naturally aspirated I4 engine that is capable of producing up to 240 horsepower. Honda S200 owners spend an average of just $404 a year on maintenance.
The top three is closed by the Subaru BRZ, released in 2013, which received a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine developing power up to 200 horsepower. Owners of this model spend an average of $672 annually on maintenance.
