In an interview with EW, Neil Druckmann said that he plans to add “at least one element” from the updated TLOU 2 to the second season of The Last of Us.
The creator of the universe emphasized that filming of the series has not yet begun and “everything can change,” but he is already not averse to using the news about The Last of Us Part II Remastered in the continuation of the HBO series.
Druckmann explained what Lost Levels represent – viewers will see scenes and footage that were not originally completed and did not make it into the game:
“The goal of Lost Levels is to provide insight into the initial development of The Last of Us Part II and help fans gain a deeper appreciation for the studio's creative work. While the television series has deviated from the original works to fit the medium, and will likely deviate again, these levels do not represent work on the HBO series that is separate from the development of Part II Remastered.”
Players will be able to access new levels that were not completed and, through “interactive elements,” will understand why the developers ultimately abandoned them.
A PlayStation rep talked about the first “level,” an “extended party scene in Jackson that will explore more of Ellie's life in town,” and “Ellie following something into the Mountain General Store near Jackson.”
Developer Naughty Dog also said that working on The Last of Us Part II Remastered allowed him to brush up on his knowledge and prepare for the second season of The Last of Us.
