MC-21 goes through seven stages on the way to transforming a set of components into a whole aircraft

The Irkutsk Aviation Plant is actively assembling mass-produced MS-21 passenger aircraft. So, right now in the final assembly shop there are airframes of four serial airliners: two are undergoing design modifications, one has a wing installed, another is at the stage of fuselage docking.

Five already docked gliders of serial airliners were transported to a new hangar intended for ground testing of the MS-21. They are waiting for domestic on-board systems, which are currently being tested. After the components arrive, the airframes will be returned to the final assembly shop.

As reported by Vzlyot, each new MC-21 goes through seven stages in the final assembly shop. First, at stations PF20 and PF30, the front and rear halves of the fuselage (half-fuselages) are assembled, then at station F05 their automated docking is carried out. After this, the fuselage moves to the F10 station, where the wing consoles are joined to it and the aircraft stands on its own landing gear. At the next station F20, the final assembly of the aircraft is performed (engines and auxiliary power unit are installed). Then, at station F30, workshop testing of all aircraft systems is carried out, and at station F40, the assembled airliner is delivered.
