In 2024, a bright representative of the “walking simulator” genre called The Vanishing of Ethan Carter was remembered again, but the reason was not very positive. Soon the VR version of the game will stop selling.
The developers turned to the community on Steam: it was decided to stop supporting The Vanishing of Ethan Carter VR, they can no longer guarantee that it will be work with new VR headsets and operating systems. Sales of the VR version of the game are going to stop on May 31, 2024.
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter VR is an add-on, not the main game – The Vanishing of Ethan Carter itself is still will still be on sale. Current owners (who managed to purchase) the DLC will retain access to it.
DLC is “recognized” in the Steam service, i.e. the purchase has not only play value, but also collection value. At the time of publication, the developers have not launched a farewell sale; the full cost of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter VR add-on is 249 rubles.
