Samsung does not want to significantly increase wages, which is why it could face the first strike in 55 years

The trade union demands a much more significant increase

For the first time in more than half a century, Samsung Electronics may face a strike by its workers.

It is reported that the next wage increase that the company has planned is fundamentally at odds with the union's demand, and negotiations have reached a dead end.

Samsung initially planned to increase wages by only 2.5%, and this proposal was rejected by the union, as well as a subsequent one of 2.8% with additional benefits. For comparison, the union is expecting an increase of 8.1%, that is, the difference between the proposals is huge.

In 2022, the Samsung union already received the right to strike, but abandoned it, but now the threat to the company is even stronger. Negotiations on March 8 will reportedly be decisive on this issue, but if they fail, Samsung could face its first strike in the union's 55 years of existence.
