We planned to sell 200 cars per month, but the actual monthly order was 650 cars

Mitsubishi has seen unexpectedly high demand for its newest Mitsubishi L200 pickup truck (the car debuted last year) in its home market: with expected sales of 200 vehicles per month, the company collected 1,300 pre-orders in the first two months.

Mitsubishi did not expect such demand for a number of reasons. Firstly, this model was not sold in Japan for 12 years, and other cars filled the niche. Secondly, the Japanese were offered the L200 in well-equipped but expensive trim levels at prices ranging from 33 to 36 thousand dollars. For comparison, a top-spec Toyota Hilux costs $28.5 thousand in Japan.

Already in the basic equipment there is a digital instrument panel with a 7-inch screen, a media system with a 9-inch display, adaptive cruise control, heated steering wheel and front seats.
