A new production of electric vehicles has opened in Russia, located in the special economic zone «Alabuga». Company LLC «Owl Motors» specializes in assembling remanufactured Chinese Wuling and Dongfeng models. The main consumers of the products will be corporate clients.
At the moment, the plant is producing test samples of electric trucks. However, the start of mass production depends on the completion of the certification procedure and obtaining the necessary permits.
It is planned to begin production of electric cars using the large-unit method with subsequent localization of production. The Sova 25 model will be the most affordable electric van with a load capacity of 1 ton on the Russian market, estimating its cost at approximately 3.5 million rubles. There are also plans to assemble larger trucks, for example, Sova 35 (Dongfeng Liuzhou L2EV) with a gross weight of 3.5 tons.
In addition to producing electric vehicles, the company will also develop charging infrastructure and provide solutions for cargo delivery. The main clients of «Sova Motors» sees corporate customers such as marketplaces. The project's profitability is expected after the release of 1,000 copies of each model, which is planned to be achieved in one year. In the long term, it is planned to expand the model range. Chinese models undergo significant development before production begins, but details are not disclosed.
