Volkswagen “pumped up” to 300 hp. 2.0-liter turbo engine EA888 Evo4
Volkswagen today officially unveiled the Golf GTI Clubsport. It became the most powerful Golf in the history of production models — The power of the EA888 Evo4 2.0-liter turbo engine has been increased to 300 hp. The engine is combined with a proprietary 7-speed «robot» DSG.
The Golf GTI Clubsport ended up with 45 hp. More powerful than a regular GTI. If the GTI accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, then the GTI Clubsport gains a «hundred» in 5.6 s. Top speed is limited to 250 km/h, but the Clubsport is available with an optional Race Package that pushes the limit to 269 km/h. Part of this package is the Akrapovic exhaust system. Standard wheels — 18-inch, optional — 19 inch. Golf GTI Clubsport received modified brakes and a special sport mode.
Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport received an electronically controlled front differential lock, and adaptive shock absorbers are available for an additional fee as part of the Dynamic Chassis Control system. The interior is the same as the Volkswagen Golf Mk8.5: a media system with a 12.9-inch screen and a steering wheel with regular mechanical keys instead of touch buttons. The car received slightly modified headlights and lanterns, a bumper with a different air intake and an enlarged rear spoiler.
The price of the Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport has not yet been announced, but the car will go on sale later this year.
