The length of this aircraft is only 5.86 meters. The first I-16 type 4 went into mass production in 1934. It was equipped with an M-22 engine with 480 hp. The I-16 type 24 modification (1940) received an 1100-horsepower engine. The maximum speed was 489 km/h.
The aircraft was equipped with 4 ShKAS machine guns of 7.62 mm caliber. In addition, it was possible to install 4 ShKAS machine guns and one 12.7 mm BS under or above the engine. It carried 6 RS-82 shells or up to 500 kg of bombs.
