AvtoVAZ announced the introduction of new electric Lada cars to its model line. Company President Maxim Sokolov announced his intention to introduce a new Lada Aura executive sedan, a crossover, and a number of electric vehicles.
Maxim Sokolov emphasized that AvtoVAZ is faced with a large-scale task of achieving technological sovereignty in the production of the current model range and the creation of new models, including electric cars. The company, together with Tolyatti State University, is creating an advanced engineering school of hybrid technologies «HybridTech». AvtoVAZ guaranteed co-financing of this project in the amount of 1.383 billion rubles.
The first production electric car in the Lada line will be the e-Largus, an electric version of the famous gasoline car. The assembly of a pilot batch of electric vehicles is planned for December at a plant in Izhevsk, and the launch of the model into mass production is planned for May 2024. Lada e-Largus will be available in two versions: a passenger station wagon and a commercial van, equipped with a 150-horsepower electric motor and lithium-ion batteries.
The interior is expected to feature a digital instrument panel displaying key system parameters, including battery charge level and a range exceeding 400 km on a full charge.
