Phil Spencer again raised the issue of Sony's policy, which was in effect until recently. An Xbox representative emphasized that Call of Duty on Xbox Game Pass is one of the options for players.
It is known that Activision's shooter will be added to Xbox Game Pass at launch. Phil Spencer emphasized that for gamers, Call of Duty on Xbox Game Pass is one of many options, after which he sharply spoke out against the “nefarious methods” of encouraging one platform.
“It's a choice. We haven't said to anyone, 'You have to subscribe to play.' If you want to buy Black Ops 6, that's great. That's good for us, that's good for the developer. If you want to subscribe to the game, that's great too. I want to give you the ability to choose how you play and who you play with, not implement pathetic platform decisions to force you to do what I want.”
His statement is directly related to PlayStation's strategy, which has been implemented for several years now and consists of systematically providing players with exclusive content as part of the PlayStation Advantage program. Until recently, a similar agreement was in place for Activision, and thanks to it, the gaming community on Sony consoles could count on early access to production and other content. Spencer assured that Xbox, as the owner of the publisher of the top shooter, will not go for such measures.
“It's been 10 years since Call of Duty was on our show. And it's been even longer since all Call of Duty players got the same game at the same time,” – Phil Spencer emphasized when the game was announced at the Xbox Games Showcase.
