Income from it will be used for the development of the space industry
The press service of Roscosmos reported that on February 19, at a meeting of the Government Commission on Legislative Activities, a draft federal law introduced by deputies and senators was approved, which will allow the state corporation to actively conduct advertising campaigns. In particular, it will be possible to install outdoor advertising on space infrastructure facilities and place advertising on space technology.
This bill appeared in the electronic database of the State Duma of the Russian Federation back in October last year. It was noted then that it would be possible to earn about 200 million rubles annually by placing advertising on spacecraft. Now the project has been approved by the commission on legislative activities, but only taking into account modifications, Izvestia notes. The creators of the bill proposed concluding contracts for the placement of advertising structures on space objects without holding tenders, but the government still insisted on the need for tenders. After amendments are made, the bill can be approved by the Government of the Russian Federation.
According to Roscosmos, advertising campaigns within the framework of existing space programs will help popularize space activities and attract young personnel to the space industry. And the income received will be used for the development of innovative space programs and projects, the state corporation notes.
