This is part of the free update
Developers from Polyphony Digital have released a free update for the racing simulator Gran Turismo 7, adding the popular Suzuki Jimny SUV to the game.
No, this is not an April Fool's joke. The small SUV has indeed become available in the popular simulator, but it is slightly different from the usual version. The virtual Suzuki Jimny is based on the Japanese version of the car.
Instead of a 1.5-litre engine, the JDM-spec Jimny features a 660cc three-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 63bhp. and torque 96 Nm.
These characteristics, narrow body and high ground clearance make the Jimny poorly suited for track use, where the car exhibits significant body roll in corners. However, quirky and slow cars from Japan have always held a special place in the hearts of Gran Turismo fans, and the Jimny is no exception to this rule.
As with other vehicles in Gran Turismo, you have the ability to fine-tune the engine, suspension, brakes and various mechanical components, greatly improving the Jimny's driving performance. Although engine swaps are not currently possible, performance modifications can increase power output from the standard 63 hp. up to 158 hp
