After many years, Titan Quest returns not with some re-release, but with a full-fledged new part. The developers continue to show working footage
The creators of Titan Quest 2 again reminded about the project. In the new development diary, they decided to focus on the game world and sources of inspiration.
When creating the world, the authors of Titan Quest 2 looked back to the original TQ, which became the starting point for the team, as well as mythology :
“In Greek myths, heroes never knew what they might encounter when they landed on a new shore. Part of the world was known, but part remained mysterious, full of danger and magic. We wanted to bring that same sense of discovery, adventure and danger to the world of Titan Quest 2.”
In the world of Titan Quest 2, there is also a place for mythological locations; monsters or magical creatures live in these places. For the design, the authors took inspiration from ancient Greek temples and villages, but they wanted to give them “a larger mythological feel“. Some places will be recognizable, but the vision of the authors of TQ 2 leaves a certain imprint:
“Just as the ancient Greeks saw the “hand of the gods” in their lives, so in the world of Titan Quest 2, all the gods, monsters and magical creatures of Greek mythology are real, and this approach allows us to depict places such as the coast of Messenia and Sparta, as you have never seen them before.”
The term “handmade” is chosen to describe the world of Titan Quest 2. Haven't used procedural generation and understand the need to reward explorers:
“Many of the most interesting parts of the world of Titan Quest 2 have no signs at all! Players will have to discover them for themselves.”
