Reusable block of heavy launch vehicle «Angara-A5» will be designed for ten flights, said the chief designer and deputy general director of NPO «Energomash» Pyotr Lyovochkin. In his presentation shown at the Royal Readings, it was stated that the returned stages were required to be used ten times. Previously, designers confirmed the possibility of creating the «Angara-A5B» (more lifting version with a hydrogen third stage) with reusable first and second stage boosters.
According to Lyovochkin, the central engine of the reusable unit «Angara-A5» will turn on three times during one flight. The reusable rocket will be equipped with four landing legs, which it will deploy before landing.
