Kia has announced pricing for the updated 2024 Sorento SUV. Now its price starts at $33,365. This is $1,600 more than last year.
At this base price you get the Sorento LX with front-wheel drive. The top version of the Sorento X-Pro SX Prestige AWD costs $48,765.
Borrowing design cues from the EV9, the car features a stylish exterior design with T-shaped headlights flanking the familiar grille. The Kia badge moves to the hood, and if you opt for the new X-Pro trim, you get smaller 17-inch wheels with larger BF Goodrich all-terrain tires.
The curved display includes two 12.3-inch screens. The climate control vents have changed. The updated Sorento features a range of advanced EV9 technologies, which include, among other things, Kia's Connected Car Navigation Cluster (ccNC) and over-the-air updates.
Other notable technology includes the Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control system, which «learns» your driving style regarding acceleration and braking. Kia has added 10 driver assistance systems as standard, including an updated forward collision warning that can better detect pedestrians. The automaker's Digital Key 2.0 system is available, turning compatible smartphones into Sorento keys that can lock and unlock the SUV.
The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine retains 191 hp. Upgraded models get a 2.5-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 281 hp. and torque 311 Nm. This engine is also equipped with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive available.
Kia isn't ready to share details about the updated Sorento Hybrid lineup, other than to say that standard and plug-in versions will arrive later in 2024 as 2025 models.
