Launched on May 2
SpaceX set its record for rocket reuse for the second time in less than a week. A Falcon 9 rocket launched two Earth observation satellites for Maxar on May 2 from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.
This was the 20th flight of the rocket's first stage, breaking a record set by one Falcon 9 last month and another on Saturday evening, April 27. Falcon 9's first stage returned safely to Earth again today, making a vertical landing at Vandenberg approximately 8.5 minutes after liftoff.
Meanwhile, the second stage of the rocket continued to launch two Maxar WorldView Legion satellites into orbit. The first spacecraft will be deployed 13 minutes after launch, the second — 3.5 minutes after that.
The WorldView Legion satellites were built by Maxar Space Systems and will be operated by Maxar Intelligence, a division of Maxar Technologies.

«When all six WorldView Legion satellites are launched, it will triple Maxar Intelligence's 30-centimeter and multispectral image collection capabilities, — wrote Maxar representatives. — Maxar's full constellation of 10 electro-optical satellites will image the most rapidly changing areas on Earth every 20-30 minutes, from sunrise to sunset.
