A considerable part of Chinese Camrys went to Russia in 2023
At the beginning of the month, Chinese automakers and foreign companies present in the Chinese car market traditionally publish sales statistics. And in the case of Toyota, the statistics are very positive: in November, sales grew by 17.2% year on year – up to 164.5 thousand cars.
Sales «Toyota» have been growing in China for the third month in a row. The strong performance in November was driven by marketing campaigns and discounts announced during the Guangzhou Auto Show.
Electric cars and hybrids are selling especially well: year-on-year sales jumped by 80% – up to 63.4 thousand cars. Sales of the FAW Toyota joint venture rose 29.7% year-on-year in November, but the GAC Toyota joint venture performed worse – sales fell 1.9% relative to November 2022.
In total, since the beginning of the year (from January to November) 1 722 100 Toyota cars have been sold in China – 2% less than in the same period last year. More than 200 thousand of this amount – These are the popular Toyota Camry sedans. It is quite obvious that a considerable part of this number of Camrys went to Russia.
