Since 2028, operators are required to use only domestic equipment

Russian Minister of Digital Development Maksut Shadayev said that mass production of base stations supporting 5G cellular networks can be established in Russia in 2025–2026. He mentioned this during an interview with the Solovyov Live TV channel. According to Shadayev, the first base station already exists, and in 2025–2026 serial production can be launched in volumes that will allow operators to develop their networks based on their needs.

Recall that from 2028, Russian telecom operators will be required to purchase base stations only of domestic production. The decision on this was made back in December 2022 following a meeting of the State Commission for the Use of Radio Frequencies (SCRF). Then it was reported that the operators of the «Big Four» have already signed forward contracts with Russian equipment manufacturers. And recently Rostelecom announced that the release of the first samples of base stations for mobile communications will take place before mid-2024.
