Production may begin even in 2026, but for now tests are underway
It became known that serial production of new Russian MS-21 aircraft can begin only in 2025-2026. The head of Rostec, Sergei Chemezov, mentioned this. According to him, mass production will not begin until the end of this year; most likely, it will start in 2025, and maybe even in 2026.
Recall that it was previously expected that by the end of 2024 Russian airlines would receive the first six MC-21 aircraft, but recently the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov cast doubt on this. He «carefully informed» that by the end of the year only the final stage of certification will be completed, and after that the shipping of the boards will begin.
The head of Rostec also noted that tests of the imported MS-21 are still underway, and the safety of the aircraft comes first. «We are still worried about the safety of all of us, we will fly on these planes», — emphasized Sergey Chemezov. MS-21 — This is a narrow-body, medium-haul airliner; in the import-substituted version it will receive Russian PD-14 engines.
