Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra turned into a portable gaming computer

An enthusiast demonstrated the performance of Fallout 4 and other games running using an emulator on a flagship Samsung smartphone.

A blogger from the ETA PRIME channel decided to turn the Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphone into a full-fledged gaming device. To do this, he needed a modified version of the WInlator emulator, which allows him to emulate the Windows operating system on devices running Android, since the official version of the emulator does not support the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. The Samsung DeX application was also used for wireless connection to the monitor.

The enthusiast demonstrated the smartphone's performance in games such as Fallout 4, Far Cry, Undertale, TES IV: Oblivion and Bioshock Remastered. In some games, it was possible to achieve performance of 60 frames per second, albeit at minimum settings.

Such an experiment shows that with proper optimization, smartphones equipped with flagship Snapdragon processors could show acceptable performance in ported versions of classic PC games. It is worth considering that when using an emulator, some of the resources are spent on emulating a third-party operating system, which somewhat affects the final result.

If you are the owner of a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and decide to repeat the enthusiast's experiment, it is worth considering that the modified version of Winlator is translated only into Chinese, and you may have difficulty setting it up. Also, according to ETA, he was unable to install Steam on the emulator, so game installers from the GOG store were used for the videos, but in general, there should be no problems with any repacks of games without DRM protection.
