The head of the Russian Railways holding Oleg Belozerov spoke about the Russian high-speed train at the plenary discussion “The transport system of the future in the interests of the passenger”, which was held as part of the exhibition-forum «Russia» , which is currently being developed. According to Belozerov, the new train will be of a higher level than existing high-speed trains. It will have eight carriages and four classes of service: first, business, comfort and basic, and the speed will be up to 400 km/h.
Oleg Belozerov also said that the appearance of the promising composition has already been approved. The train will have a play area for children, a kitchen with a bar in the bistro car and a multimedia infotainment system. The production of the new domestic train is planned to be made import-independent; assembly of the train should begin in 2026. Russian Railways plans to receive a new train in 2027.
In addition, Russian Railways plans — launch of an unmanned train. According to Belozerov, already in the summer of 2024, a partially unmanned train with autonomous driving at level 3A will be launched on the Moscow Central Circle (MCC): that is, there is still a driver in the cab who controls the movement and is ready to take control if necessary. A completely unmanned train will appear in 2026; it will be built on the basis of an import-substituted analogue of the «Lastochka» – domestic electric train ES104 «Finist».
