They will be on the market within two years

In Russia they have developed a project for stationary landing towers «Palm» for contactless charging of drones using electromagnetic induction, as reported by the press service of the National Technology Initiative (NTI).

«After being in the air above the "Palm" five minutes, the drone will be able to fly for another 20 minutes or more, depending on its technical characteristics», — said the author of the project, Mikhail Klimchuk.

These towers can be used to recharge most types of drones, as well as deploy stationary electronic warfare (EW) equipment near border areas.

«Potential clients — oil and gas companies, where a network of stationary landing towers will provide constant monitoring of the integrity of oil and gas pipelines», — Klimchuk added.
