Russia has created a universal platform for spacecraft weighing up to a ton

It will allow satellites to be mass-produced. The first to be assembled on it will be the new communications satellite “Gonets-M1”

Specialists of JSC «Reshetnev» — Russian manufacturer of satellites for various purposes — developed a new unified platform for spacecraft weighing up to 1000 kg. The first device created on its basis will be the promising satellite «Gonets-M1». As we have already written, the deployment of the orbital constellation of satellites «Gonets-M1» due to be completed in 2029, it will provide communications, in particular telephone communications, throughout Russia, including remote regions, and will also serve as infrastructure for the Internet of things.

The platform, created by domestic designers, has the shape of a tetrahedral trapezoid. This ensures economical placement of the devices under the fairing of the launch vehicle and makes it possible to launch up to four satellites into low circular orbits with one launch. The power supply system guarantees the allocation of up to 2 kW for the operation of the payload.

Production of Russian ESP will start on December 19, and on December 18 the PSMA Rus plant, which previously produced the Mitsubishi Outlander, will be restarted

It is also important that the design and layout of the new platform makes it possible to mass-produce satellites while maintaining a modular production principle. The use of the development in promising spacecraft will increase their reliability, reduce production time and reduce production costs, as its creators note.
