This is one of the most affordable pickups on the market, only the UAZ “Pickup” is cheaper than it
In Vladivostok at the former Mazda Sollers plant set up the assembly of the Sollers ST6 pickup truck. Essentially, this is the same JAC T6, but under a different name. And the JAC T6, in turn, is a clone of the seventh generation Toyota Hilux (produced from 2004 to 2015). In general, the pedigree of the Russian car is not bad, but what about everything else?
The reviewer started with the interior and noted the presence of a media system in the car that supports Apple Car Play and Android Auto. Unlike the JAC T6, the Sollers ST6 has a heated rear window, and also has heated front seats.
The car is frame and budget, so the fit leaves much to be desired. And while driving is still relatively good, you won’t get far in the back with the seat backs almost vertical. But under the back seat cushion there were pockets where you could put some things.
On the move, the Sollers ST6 pleased me (the version with a 2.0-liter 136-horsepower diesel engine was tested). According to the reviewer, the car has “an optimal balance of engine, gearbox and chassis.” Very good handling is overshadowed by only one moment – very short first gear. And this is especially inconvenient in the city (Sollers ST6 is equipped exclusively with a manual transmission).
Another of the minuses – poor sound insulation, one of the advantages – small for a frame car 5.3 meters long, consumption is 9 l/100 km.
And the most important moment – price. The Sollers ST6 has become much more affordable than the JAC T6 in Russia: the price of the basic version (with a 177-horsepower gasoline engine) is 2.4 million rubles. Surcharge for diesel engine – 100 thousand rubles, for a better package (as in the video) – another 100 thousand rubles. It turns out already 2.6 million rubles, but it’s still inexpensive: only the UAZ «Patriot» is cheaper on the market.
