Sales of Chinese models should not grow so much anymore
Market participants surveyed by the agency «Avtostat» predicted how shares will be distributed among participants in the Russian car market in 2024.
According to Evgeniy Zhitnukhin, head of the dealership department of the FRESH automotive marketplace, Chinese automakers, whose models already occupy about 60% of the market, next year plan to increase sales in Russia to 1.2 million cars. Official supplies will increase, while demand for models imported into the Russian Federation through parallel imports will decrease due to rising prices and blocking of cars by European manufacturers.
«The volume of parallel imports will decrease, this is already evident from the dynamics of the last three months. The share of parallel imports will remain at the level of 6 – 7% in the structure of sales of new cars. Preference is now given to cars officially imported into Russia with warranty support from the manufacturer. The distribution of power between Chinese brands and domestic manufacturers will remain at the 2023 level. In 2024, more than 10 new brands will appear, mostly Chinese brands», – noted the director for development of the network of dealer centers «Pragmatika» Alexander Shaprinsky.
«Everyone understands that Chinese brands will continue to further expand their presence in the market, actively replacing outdated European, Japanese and Korean cars. The increase in demand for them is facilitated by such factors as the growth of the dealer network, the release of a large number of new products and updated current versions, warranty, support from the importers and dealers themselves, high availability of spare parts, – added Deputy General Director for Sales of New Cars AG «Avilon» Renat Tyukteev.
According to the deputy head of the analytics department of the agency «Avtostat» Victor Pushkarev, domestic brands Lada and UAZ together can retain about a third of the Russian car market in 2024.
